Cooper Union participates in a number of IEEE and ACM sponsored events and competitions:
- IEEE Xtreme Programming Contest
- IEEE region 1 Student Paper Contest
- ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC)
- HKN Honor society, ΔΧ chapter
Additionally, the IEEE and ACM clubs hold many school events through the year:
- Lecture series
- Has had speaker such as Brian Kernighan, Ioannis (John) Kymissis, Ted Fellow, and Nina Tandon.
- EEt, MEEt and GrEEt: An "ice breaker" event for all EEs.
